Cultural Festival

On Wednesday we performed at the Christchurch Primary Schools Cultural Festival at the Horncastle Arena. We participate in this festival biennially, so it is an exciting performance for us. The festival runs all week and around 5000 students participated this year. We are very proud of our Hoon Hay performers. You can check out their performance and some photos below. Kei te whakahīhī tātou ki a koutou!

One of our Hoon Hay students, Sarah, also performed as part of the
O'Neill School of Irish Dance group, as well as in the Kapa Haka. Awesome job, Sarah! We loved getting to see you perform. You can see the O'Neill School of Irish Dance performance below.

Ukulele

Students from Year 3 upwards enjoy learning new skills and ukulele is one of the options they enjoy here at Hoon Hay School. Here are a few photos of the Harakeke and Koru children enjoying today's session.

"ART from the HeART"

"ART from the HeART" is the next event at Hoon Hay School, coming up on 12 - 13 September. Every child in the school will present some art pieces and the school community are invited to view over several days. The standard is always very high and it is amazing the creativity that the students display. The children are already underway with their exhibits!
Keep an eye on the website for details.

Kids in Town 2017

The busy Arts term has kicked off well with a super "Kids in Town" event held today at the Art Gallery. Hoon Hay School was the only school performing and the children gave it their all to an appreciative audience of parents, grandparents, and visitors to the Art Gallery. Many thanks to the City Council for providing the transport and special thanks to the wonderful whanau who always support us so well.
Check out some of these amazing photos and videos of our children using their talents to lift our spirits on this winter's day.
