Christchurch Primary Schools' Music Festival

Our wonderful Legends Choir performed beautifully at this year's opening night at the Christchurch Primary Schools' Music Festival held at the Horncastle Arena. They looked great and certainly hit the high notes with some great songs like "Those Magnificent Men in their Flying Machines" and "We are the Champions". Our Junior Representative Choir members sang like angels with "A Million Dreams" and "Orinoco Flow" (Mrs Peterson's favourite item of the night!).
It was great to see the parents and grandparents enjoying this memorable night of music.
You can hear the choir again at Kids In Town this Thursday (1 November) at the ChCh Art Gallery from 12.30pm - 1pm.

Love to play the ukulele

The Mighty Minnows and Team Harakeke love moving to music and learning the ukulele. Mrs Peterson has taken each class for a series of lessons learning about beat, rhythm, moving, and singing. She thinks it's a great way to spend an afternoon!

Our amazing "Kids For Kids" kids!

The Year 3 and 4 choir had a huge day on Wednesday rehearsing and performing at the Horncastle Arena with Jackie Clarke and Nathan King at the Kids For Kids concert in conjunction with World Vision. The children raised their voices to lift everyone's spirit's and to draw attention to some important global issues. We love being part of something that is bigger than just our school community so thank you Kids For Kids for having us on board this year.

New Zealanders have a proud history of raising their voices for important issues on the global stage and this year’s Kids for Kids is all about celebrating this ‘Kiwi As’ spirit! Across 19 shows around the nation, 10,000 young New Zealanders have a chance to take to the stage and use their voice for good.

Hoon Hay's Got Talent!

After weeks of practising and team heats, the Hoon Hay's Got Talent 2016 Final was held at the end of Term 2. Hoon Hay thoroughly enjoyed the event, particularly Ms McArthur's mystery act - Running Man, featuring some talented Hoon Hay students.

3rd      Ava, Chloe and Milla, performing their contemporary dance

Harakeke Choir Hit the High Notes

Our new choir from Team Harakeke made their debut last Friday with their item "Candyman". They sang their hearts out and managed to remember all the actions. A great effort from Year 2/3 children! The audience loved it and as Ms McArthur said, "It brought joy to our hearts". It sure did!

Entertainment at Hoon Hay Community Preschool

On 6th April members of the choir and ukulele groups went to the Hoon Hay Community Preschool to share some music items. The preschool have been teaching the children about different styles of music and they were a fantastic audience! The children had made scones for our students so they shared a wonderful afternoon tea which was very much appreciated.
